I am running weirdly behind on Doctor Who this year for many reasons, but one of them is the fact that the first three episodes of the season were so sub-par, they soured me on the rest of it. That said, the next three were some of the best the show’s managed in a few years, so perhaps we should just chalk this year up to “uneven with amazingly obvious growing pains.”

All of that said, this image for the next episode, the ridiculously-titled “Mummy on the Orient Express” – shades of last season’s “Dinosaurs on a Spaceship” and more proof that Steven Moffat likes to think he thinks in high concepts but really just thinks in mad libs – is particularly fun. Capaldi, you might arguably be more likeable as a Doctor in still form than on the show itself.
