The tweet was made as part of a heated Internet debate about plaintiff’s responsibility for the disappearance of her horse. Furthermore, it cannot be read literally without regard to the way in which a reasonable person would interpret it. The phrase “Mara Feld… is fucking crazy,” when viewed in that context, cannot reasonably be understood to state actual facts about plaintiff’s mental state. It was obviously intended as criticism—that is, as opinion—not as a statement of fact.

Over Easy, the fantastic new memoir by Mimi Pond, marks another new achievement for the LA Times and National Lampoon cartoonist and occasional television writer (Amongst her accomplishments, the first full-length episode of The Simpsons): her first graphic novel.

Beginning this July, Doctor Who is back — in comics, at least (The television series won’t return until the fall), with two new series following the Tenth and Eleventh incarnations of the long-running science fiction character being launched by U.K.-based publisher Titan Comics.

The nominees for the 2014 Will Eisner Comic Industry Awards, which will be given out Friday, July 25 at Comic-Con International: San Diego!The Eisner nominations for 2014 are out. As ever, congratulations to all the nominees, including my favorites (No, I won’t say who).
Worth noting: DC is pretty much shut out this year. You’d like to think that they’d take that as a sign to shake things up, wouldn’t you? But they won’t.
True, but you could argue that most of Marvel’s nominations come for a title that’s ending soon by a writer they drove away. And if you include Vertigo, DC has a lot more than Marvel.
The bigger takeaway is just how much stronger indie comics are overall here. There are a ton of capital “G” Great comics coming out from everyone other than Marvel and DC.
Fantagraphics and Image had really good years. My favorite nomination of all, for many reasons, is High Crimes getting a Best New Series nod. I love that digital comics are getting included with print comics more and more (Of course, this happened last year with Bandette, didn’t it?)
