Time Is Broken

The strange thing about getting back from a trip over a weekend – which is what I’m going through now, having just visited Canada for the first time (It was lovely! People were very polite!) – is that you end up not having a weekend as such, and feel the effects of losing one part of your regular chronological compass. Which is to say: Thursday and Monday were spent traveling, Friday and Sunday spent working, making Saturday both my Saturday and Sunday, Sunday my Monday, except today is also my Monday because it’s my first day back in the regular office, and yet, last Wednesday was kind of a Friday because I wasn’t working Thursday as usual, except I did work a few hours Thursday and Monday, and then I worked Friday, so I’ve had two Fridays, two Mondays and only half a weekend in the last seven days. If that makes sense to anyone; I’m not sure it even makes sense to me, and I’m the one experiencing it right now.
