Some quick, random thoughts about the Guardians of the Galaxy poster:
- That tagline is going to become very obnoxious very, very quickly. As it is, it’s impressively smug, especially coming after the “From the Studio That Brought You” up top.
- I may be the only person who thinks this – I’ve definitely not seen anyone else say it online – but that logo seems really weird to me, as if it’s slightly out of focus, like a screencap. The first time I saw the poster, I assumed it was a mistake, but apparently not.
- I wish there was some way to make Rocket Raccoon seem a little bit more… present in there? As it is, he looks like he’s a concept painting added after the fact (Yes, I know it’s not a real raccoon, but still – the shots from the movie seem more realistic than he does on this poster).
- There’s a lot of empty space in this poster. Like, too much? I get that the Guardians are supposed to be off-kilter and the underdogs and everything, really, I do, but that image of them feels like an afterthought to me.
- I don’t know why I find it quite so funny/depressing as I do, but Gamora wearing heels is just… oh, of course she is, she’s a woman after all, you know? Heaven forbid that she’d be allowed to wear more practical footwear being the galaxy’s deadliest woman and all.
- At least she’s not showing her ass to the viewer, as per so many other Marvel movie posters. That’s something, I guess?
I guess I really don’t like this poster after all. Ah well, at least I dug the trailer.
